Anti-viral Treatments
Some people at highest risk of becoming seriously ill from Covid-19 are eligible for anti-viral treatments from the NHS, without having to go into hospital.
These include people aged 12 years or over who have cancer, blood conditions, kidney disease and autoimmune conditions, amongst others.
Normally, you will have received a letter from the NHS to advise you that you fit into this group.
If you have been advised that you are in this group and you are experiencing Covid-19 symptoms:
- Take a rapid lateral flow test as soon as possible
- If your test is positive, call your GP surgery or (if out of hours) contact NHS111
They will assess your eligibility for treatment and, if appropriate, refer you to the Covid-19 Management Delivery Unit (CMDU).
This unit is operated on behalf of Herefordshire General Practice by Taurus Healthcare.
