National Lung cancer screening Programme
If you're aged between 55 and 74 and have ever smoked, you may be given the opportunity to take part in lung cancer screening, with a lung health check.
How will you receive your invite?
- Your GP Practice will supply us with a list of patients
- Initially we will be inviting backwards down the age groups to ensure that everyone eligible at go-live can take part in the screening programme.
- Invitations where possible, will be sent by text and by letter for those who do not have a mobile number.
- You will be invited to book a telephone appointment through herohealth with a Health professional who will ask you a series of questions to determine your current risk and eligibility for a CT scan, however if you would prefer to see the health professional at our site Nelson House, Whitecross Road, Hereford there will be a telephone number for you to call and arrange this. This appointment should take no more than 15 mins.
- If after the initial screening , you meet the criteria for a CT scan , you will be invited for an in-person appointment with another health professional at our Site Taurus Healthcare Ltd, Nelson House, Whitecross Road, Hereford,Herefordshire,HR4 0DG. The Health Professional will conduct some further investigations and complete the CT request form.
- The CT Department at Wye Valley Trust will then contact you within 56 days with an appointment for a low dose CT Scan.
Herefordshire is part of the West midland Cancer Alliance and will go live on 28th April 2026.
CT scans to be performed at Wye Valley Community Diagnostic Centre located on Holmer Road, behind B&Q.
